BARDON CONCRETE GIVES LANCASHIRE PLANTS A BOOST
Two of Bardon Concrete’s hardest working plants in Lancashire
- Preston and Altham near Accrington – have been refurbished with
the latest concrete batching equipment, plant and machinery, following
a £½ million investment programme.
Bardon Concrete, part of Aggregate Industries, has made the investment
as part of its ongoing strategy to increase the range of services offered
in key regions of the country for customers in the building and construction
sector.
The existing Preston plant, based at Rough Hey Industrial Estate, two
minutes off junction 31a of the M6, has been completely replaced with
a brand new concrete facility, and the specification upgraded to include
a 1.5m³ pan mixer providing a collection service. This means the
plant can now offer customers in the North West, specialist general screed
for floor finishes and foundation work, in addition to its range of standard
and specialist concrete products. Preston operates five trucks; three
6m³ and one 8m³ vehicles and a 4m³ vehicle operating as
Elite Minimix; which can deliver direct to customer sites.
Within its first week of opening, 1,000m³ of concrete was supplied
for a job at Ides Place in Preston. The Preston plant is also about to
deliver specialist watertight concrete and screed to customers in the
region.
Bardon Concrete’s Altham plant, near Accrington, has also had
a facelift. By fully modernising its operation, the plant can continue
to offer its customers high quality products and service.
Commenting, Steve White, Bardon Concrete’s operations manager
in the North, says: “This is a significant investment programme,
which will ensure that we can offer the broadest range of standard concrete
products, specialist screeds and rendering mixes possible. We are confident
that the introduction of specialist screed will appeal to Lancashire-based
building and flooring contractors and house builders, and support ongoing
building activity in this region.”
