BARDON CONCRETE HELPS TO BUILD A STRONG FACTORY FOR BISON

Bardon Concrete, part of Aggregate Industries, has undertaken one of its biggest installations in recent years, supplying 50,000 cubic metres of high-quality reinforced ready-mixed concrete from its Newbold Quarry site in Burton on Trent, to build the new Bison factory in Swadlincote, Derbyshire.

An ongoing installation for the last two years, the project will give Bison, a leader in the design and manufacture of structural products, one of the most advanced plants in the country.

Alan Dawson, Bardon Concrete’s plant manager at Newbold Quarry, explains: “The factory is an impressive Italian designed spectacle and measures over a third of a mile long.

“As a project, the factory has been a very demanding installation using as much concrete as it would take to fill the new Wembley Stadium. Through constant and close contact with Bison we were able to have at any one time, as many as 12 trucks on site pouring over 300 cubic metres of ready-mixed concrete a day. When you look at how the construction has come together, this development has really made a positive difference to the area.”

Now finished, the project was completed on time and to the specified budget.
