BARDON CONCRETE PROVIDES FOUNDATIONS FOR
HOMES FIT FOR A SAINT
Continuing the recent transformation of Castlefield, Manchester - St
Georges Island, a new development of 434 apartments has been built by
Dandara over a two-year period, using over 12,000 cubic metres of concrete
(enough to fill one and a half Wembley stadiums) supplied by Bardon Concrete’s
Salford plant.
Gary Brennand, Bardon Concrete’s Business Manager said: “When
the contractors appointed Bardon Concrete as the job’s main concrete
supplier, there were some important points to be considered. Due to the
long time frame for the build, suppliers had to be assessed in terms of
their reliability and ability to supply consistently high quality concrete
over an extensive period.
“St Georges Island was an ambitious build which required a huge
amount of material for many of the integral parts of the building, including
the foundations, floors and lift shafts. It was a pleasure to be involved
in such a unique adventure and to see the ongoing transformation of the
skyline.”
Including the landmark Castlefield Project, the Castlefield conservation
area is going through a huge period of restoration and redevelopment and
stretches from the canal through to the City Centre.
